During the months of June and July, I called several friends who previously expressed their desire to do the Camino but none of them seem to have the time to do the camino by the end of this year. It is now the last week of July 2018 and I wanted to find a walking buddy who could join me in this Camino Adventure. This week, I decided to reach out to my old friend and classmate, Francisco Mabanta, whom I have been occasionally communicating on Viber. Francisco, now known as Fr. Frankie, was my classmate in Engineering at De La Salle. I remembered the times I used to drop him off at the Opus Dei rectory where he often conducts his most serious review studies. Several moons later, I come to find out that he now heads some of the Opus Dei establishments throughout the Philippines. Knowing that he is an ideal candidate to be my walking partner, I posted this question to him on Viber …”I’m planning to go on a pilgrimage to St James, any chance of talking you into joining me?”. Lo and behold, he tells me he attempted to do the camino last year but cancelled out in the last minute due to official church commitments. He continued to say that the Camino is one of the items in his bucket list. He wanted to find out what my plans were and he is to find out what he can do. I shared with him that I plan to walk the last 111 km of the CAMINO FRANCES for a period of 11 days from the town of Sarria to Santiago de Compostela.
